In Photos and Videos: Stories of Palestinian Displaced Persons and Their Experiences with Israeli Evacuation Orders

With the repeated evacuation orders issued by the Israeli army, the safe areas available to displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip continue to shrink amid a war that has raged in the region for over ten months.

The areas east of Deir al-Balah city were the latest to be included in the Israeli evacuation orders. According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), these orders now cover nearly 84 percent of the Gaza Strip.

UNRWA emphasizes that fear is widespread among families trapped in what it describes as “a never-ending nightmare of death and widespread destruction,” with no place left for them to seek refuge. Each time an evacuation order is issued, people are forced to leave everything behind and flee in search of safety—often ending up in tents that are unfit for human habitation.
